About Us

Model Railroad Tips was founded in April of 2006 by Joshua Baakko (from here in "Owner"), as an organized outlet for various how-to articles being written on various model railroad forums.  Founded with a mission to generate totally free content for all users, allowing free access to articles.  The earliest mission statement was "Why pay for a how-to article, that you may read, and realize that it does not apply to you?"

Model Railroad Tips has followed through with this since 2006.  We've been suppoerted with ads occasionally, with companies such as ExactRail, and Scale Segmental Bridge Co.  The Owner covers the server cost with ocassional flipping of model railroad items found at swap meets, and/or weathering projects.  Model Railroad Tips Shop is intended to increase revenue slightly, to help cover the cost of the server.

The products found here often have an occompanying article on ModelRailroadTips.com.  Please visit and support us!  The Owner is a modeler too, so this is all done as a passion for the expansion of the hobby.
